Parents and students gather at 5:00 p.m. for welcome and brief orientation to the week, and to meet the Probe Staff.

Probe's Executive Director Ray Bohlin (also our Science guy) asks for a
"state count" and we discover that our 64 students hail from Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa,
Florida, Michigan, Texas and Virginia.
|
Students at orientation. The alumni are thinking, "Cool! I've been waiting for Mind Games since last summer!" and the new
students are either refraining from making a judgment or wondering WHAT in the world the week is going to hold.
The red-shirted people at the table are the wonderful Ozark Conference Center staff who serve us and make everything
work smoothly.

Sunday night dinner. The Probe staff enjoys eating all our meals with the terrific students and truly getting to know those
who want to be known. The Ozark staff serves us our meals, but the students are very good about bussing their own
tables and getting the dishes, silverware and glasses ready to be washed.
|
The students divided up into four groups for a couple of mixer games led by the Ozark staff. It's daunting for many of
them to be surrounded by so many strangers! But this is only the first night and they won't be strangers by the end of the week.
|
Ray Bohlin takes the students through the Mind Games notebook, which will be a strong resource they can (and most will)
use for years to come. He also explains our approach to the material we'll be teaching: not to give silver bullet evidence and
make students feel superior to those who believe differently, but to teach them to understand the various worldviews
they will find in college so they can handle the assaults on their faith with calm confidence.

Students being attentive in different ways to the introductory session. One of the reasons we LOVE this week-long conference!
|
We have an awesome book table filled with excellent books that cannot be found in many Christian bookstores, all sold
at a discount. Probe staff member Todd Kappelman, who is a philosopher and film critic, listens to Ray Bohlin after setting out the books for the
students to peruse.
|
The students enjoyed snacks and getting to know each other in the Ozark Conference
Center main lodge after the introductory session.
|
More snacking and getting acquainted.
|
Camp director Kyle Cochran explains the rules of the camp--things like a 10:30 p.m. curfew to show respect for other students' need to
sleep, no girls in the guys' rooms and vice versa, and the hours and rules of the wonderful pool.
|
"The Hannahs." Hannah Wood, Hannah Smallwood, and Hannah Bakke.
|
"The Jordans." Jordan Hamilton and Jordan Singleton. In addition to the same first name and the same last syllable,
they discovered they both play bass!
|
Kevin Clarke and Andrew Nichols.
|
David Conaway and Luke Bakke REALLLLLLLLY enjoying the "spread." |
Todd Kappelman and Timothy Jackson at snack time. |
